The Rhode Island Civic
Chorale & Orchestra, Rhode Island’s oldest continuing community choral ensemble, proudly announces its
Fourth Annual COLLEGIATE VOCAL SOLO COMPETITION. This year, four winners in
the categories of Soprano, Mezzo-soprano (or Alto), Tenor and Baritone (or
Bass) will appear as soloists with the Rhode Island Civic Chorale &
Orchestra in its March 3, 2012
concert. The work on the program which will include the winning soloists
is Bach’s Mass in G-Major.
In addition to the
opportunity to appear as soloists with the Rhode Island Civic Chorale &
Orchestra and to receive the publicity prior to the performance, each
winning contestant will receive a remuneration of two hundred dollars.
Each entrant should be prepared to sing an aria or art song of his/her
choice.
The competition will
take place on Saturday, January
28, 2012 between 2:00 and 6:00 PM in the Ryan Concert Hall, Smith Center for
the Performing Arts, at Providence College.
An accompanist will be provided.
The entrant must be
enrolled as a student at an institution of higher education (RI, MA, CT) at
the time of the audition and must be recommended by a teacher at his/her
school. The recommendation may be indicated by signature on the
application. The adjudicators are three of New England’s most respected
singers who have appeared on numerous occasions as soloists with the
Chorale.
Upon receipt of the
application, the entrant will be assigned an audition time.
A $25 entry fee in the form of a check made payable to RICCO should
accompany the application form, which is due by January 13, 2012
