Winners of the competition will be the soloists for this concert.
This year, four winners in the categories of Soprano, Mezzo-soprano (or Alto), Tenor and Baritone (or Bass) will appear as soloists with the Rhode Island Civic Chorale & Orchestra in its March 24, 2018 concert. Along with the opportunity to appear as soloists with the Rhode Island Civic Chorale & Orchestra in W.A. Mozart’s Coronation Mass, KV 317 and Benjamin Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb and to receive the publicity prior to the performance, each winning contestant will receive a remuneration of three hundred dollars.
The Collegiate Vocal Competition will be held on Saturday October 21st at the Music Mansion, 88 Meeting Street, Providence, RI 02906. Applicants will be informed of a time after we receive your application and registration fee.
An accompanist will be provided. Contestants should come prepared to sing an aria or art song of his or her choosing. The entrant must be enrolled as a student at an institution of higher education (RI, MA, CT) at the time of the audition and must be recommended by a teacher at his/her school. The recommendation may be indicated by signature on the application. The adjudicators are three of New England’s most respected singers who have appeared on numerous occasions as soloists with the Chorale and elsewhere in the region.
Upon receipt of the application, the entrant will be assigned an audition time. A $38 entry fee in the form of a check made payable to RICCO should accompany the application form, which is due by Friday, October 20, 2017 at our address below.
